Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare calls on all local tourism operators to work closely with international marketing groups to deliver the best benefits for people in the country.
He highlighted this during the island feast dinner to welcome Ignite Travel Group (ITG)of Australia to Solomon Islands.
Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) and Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) organised the dinner which was hosted at the Dynasty Restaurant, Iron Bottom Sound Hotel (IBS) on Saturday night.
Mr Sogavare said, the DCC government is committed to building on partnership with wholesalers therefore operators should be the ones to work closely with any international marketing group.
“My government is committed to build on this partnership with wholesalers and who knows, Ignite might want to come and invest in other areas of our tourism industry especially in the accommodation sector.
“Therefore I’m encouraging all local tourism operators and stakeholders in the country to work together with any marketing group like the Ignite Travel Group to deliver the best benefit for our people in Solomon Islands,” the Prime Minister said.
He acknowledged SIVB and MCT for hosting the event and hope they have created networks for the implementation of their work.
“Tourism is everybody business, so lets us embrace our efforts to build this nation into a paradise on earth, where our visitors will come to visit us for the taste of our unique tourism hospitality in Solomon Islands.
“I would like to thank Ignite Travel Group coming to Solomon Islands and my government will continue working closely with you promote this country as hot holiday destination in the pacific.”
