FOREIGN Ministers and representatives of China’s Pacific Island ally nations have also commenced bilateral discussions with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as the China-Pacific Island Countries’ Foreign Ministers Meeting proper got underway in Xiamen City, China on Wednesday 28 May.
Foreign Ministers who had their bilateral dialogues with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi were the Kiribati Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Taneti Maamau, Niue’s Foreign Minister and Premier Dalton Tagelagi, Tongan Foreign Minister Prince Tupouto’a ‘Ulukalala, Solomon Islands Foreign Minister Peter Shanel Agovaka and Cook Islands Foreign Minister Tingika Elikana.
Minister Agovaka’s delegation includes his Permanent Secretary Colin Beck, Solomon Islands Ambassador to China, Barrett Salato and two officials from the Solomon Islands Embassy in Beijing.
Countries with bilateral meetings scheduled for Thursday 29 May are Papua New Guinea (PNG), Nauru, Fiji, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Samoa and Vanuatu.
