Verava St. Anthony’s local church located at Tasahe, West Honiara celebrated Saints Day and The Most Holy Trinity Sunday, a cherished occasion marked by faith and tradition.
The event was particularly special, as ten infants were baptised, symbolising their entry into the Christian faith.
Families stood in support as the young ones received the sacrament, a moment of deep spiritual significance.
The main celebrant Fr. Peter Chele, Vicar General, led the service, guiding the congregation through prayers and reflections.
The celebration was made more meaningful as it coincided with Holy Trinity Sunday a day dedicated to honouring the Trinity.
Additionally, the church highlighted St Anthony’s Feast day, recognising his legacy of faith and service.
During his Homily, Fr. Chele reflected on the second letter of St Paul to the Romans, emphasizing Paul’s message about Grace, faith and justification.
He highlighted the passages: “Do not confirm yourselves to this age but transformed by the renewed of your mind, but you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Fr. Chele encourages the congregation to reflect on his teaching, reminding them that faith is a journey of transformation and trust in God’s divine plan.
He also spoke about the mystery of the Holy Trinity that God is one in the divine Trinity. He reminded the people that the Trinity is a model of unity, love and harmony calling the believers to reflect these virtue in their daily lives.
He further emphasizing the role of parents in nurturing faith, stating; “As parents, It is our duty to keep and pray for our children, guiding them in the ways of the lord and ensuring they grow in faith and wisdom.”
His word resonated deeply with families in attendance, reinforcing the importance of spiritual upbringing.
Following the Baptisms, the congregation participated in Holy Communion reaffirming their faith and unity.
The service was accompanied by hymns and prayers, creating an atmosphere and gratitude.
Church leaders emphasised the importance of these sacraments in strengthening the spiritual foundations of the community.
The celebration continues with fellowships, where attendees shared meals and entertainment reinforcing bonds that makes Verava St Anthony’ a cornerstone of the local community.
