Western Tomoko and Honiara Warriors played out a 1-1 draw in their Pool B encounter on Saturday, July 12, at Lawson Tama Stadium.
The hosts took the lead early in the first half when guest player and Central Coast FC striker Bobby Leslie muscled his way past the Tomoko defence to finish from close range, giving Honiara Warriors a 1-0 advantage at halftime.
Tomoko came out strong in the second half, dominating possession and creating multiple chances. Their pressure eventually paid off when Alfie Aunga delivered a pinpoint cross that was calmly finished by Barrie Limoki, who extended his goal tally to three in the competition.
In the day’s opening match, Leslie’s first-half strike was cancelled out by Limoki’s second-half equaliser, with both sides ultimately sharing the points.
As it stands, Makira Ulawa leads Pool B with six points following their 2-0 win over Lauru Kuvojo in Saturday’s main match. Western Tomoko and Lauru Kuvojo sit close behind with four points each, while Honiara Warriors are in fourth with two points from two draws. Isabel Frigates remain at the bottom of the group, still searching for their first point.
Pool B action continues on Monday, July 14, with Western Tomoko facing Makira Ulawa in the early kickoff, followed by Honiara Warriors taking on Isabel Frigates at 3pm.
