Police is appealing to parents in Honiara to look after their children after police assist a missing child in the Borderline area in Honiara on 31 July 2025.
Operation (Ops) Commander, Zero Tolerance Mr. Simpson Pogeava said, the 3-year-old child was brought to police for safekeeping, and later his parent called in at the police station and took him.
Ops Commander Mr. Pogeava said the child went out from their house in Gilbert Camp in the afternoon on 31 July 2025 without parental notice.
“This is really a sad scenario where we parents should be careful about our children. The child is vulnerable to anything that could happen to him,” said Mr. Pogeava.
Commander Pogeava emphasized reminding parents to always be aware of their children’s whereabouts. This is to avoid any further incident happening to our children.
Ops Commander Pogeava thanked those who took care of the child in the first place and brought him to the Naha police station for further arrangements for his safe handover to his parent.
“We all share the responsibility of keeping our children safe,” he concluded, hoping to prevent future occurrences.
