Solomon Islands trio Tigi Molea, Jimson Abana, and Junior Jack Ani played a key role in helping Labasa FA lift the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants (BOG) trophy with a 2-1 victory over Rewa in a thrilling grand final on Sunday at Subrail Park in Labasa.
The win ended a 26-year wait for Labasa to claim a trophy on home soil.
Speaking to Star Sports, the trio expressed their pride in being part of the historic achievement.
“We are so proud to have helped this club make history by finally winning a trophy at home after such a long time.
“This team is like a family to us, and we dedicate this victory to the players, management, and especially the fans for all their support,” they said.
This marks Labasa’s second major title of the season, having already claimed the Bic Fiji FACT earlier this year.
With the Inter-District Championship (IDC) still to come and the team currently sitting second in the Fiji Extra Premier League, the Solomon boys are aiming for more silverware.
“Our goal is to win every tournament this year. With the IDC coming up and the league still within reach, it will be demanding, but we’re determined to create more history for our Labasa family,” the trio added.
For 23-year-old forward Junior Jack Ani, Sunday’s victory was memorable as it marked his first trophy with the club.
“This is my first title with Labasa, and I’m so happy and proud of the team and the history we made in the BOG. I’m also hoping for more trophies with Labasa,” Ani said.
The players also took time to thank their supporters, families, and friends for their continuous encouragement and prayers.
Meanwhile, fellow Solomon Islander and Rewa FC striker John Orobulu claimed the Golden Boot award, finishing as the tournament’s joint top scorer with four goals.
