Seventy (70) Catholic mothers from the Auki Parish have successfully celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Sasale Village in West Kwara’ae, Malaita Province.
The event was held from Wednesday August 13 to Friday 15 August, 2025.
The three-day celebration, which coincided with Malaita Province’s 42nd Second Appointed Day, brought together women of faith from the communities of Oibola, New Kaloka, Auki Islands, Lilisina, Fasitoro, and Sasale.
The event served not only as a spiritual gathering but also a time for reflection and empowerment, with key presentations delivered by representatives from the Catholic Church, the Ministry of Health, and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF).
These talks focused on issues such as family well-being and crime prevention.
Philopina Wale, a women leader of Sasale community, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the participation of mothers from across the parish.
“It has been a true blessing to host this celebration in our community,” she said.
“Your presence your prayers, your songs, your smiles, and your love, have touched our hearts, our families, and our entire community.”
Mrs. Wale added that the gathering has strengthened the faith of local mothers, inspired young women, and reminded everyone that they are not alone in their spiritual journey.
“Though your time with us was short, the impact will last. Let this not be the end, but the beginning of stronger friendship and unity among our women’s groups,” she said.

She also acknowledged the support of the Auki Parish Administration, the RSIPF, the Auki Parish Women’s Coordinator, the Music Ministry, the Sasale community, and individuals who contributed to the success of the event.
Fr. John Adai, of the Auki Parish Administration, described the celebration as a joyful and inspiring experience.
“It’s uplifting to witness our Parish mothers come together in faith to honour the Assumption of Holy Mary,” Fr. Adai said.
“I encourage all mothers to continue living by the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary.”
He also praised the growing strength of women’s ministry within the parish.
The Auki Islands community has been announced as the host for the 2026 Feast of the Assumption.
