In preparation for the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) next month officers from the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD) took time out from work on Wednesday afternoon to engage in a clean-up effort.
“As proud citizens and dedicated public officers, we would again engage in a series of clean up sessions to support the cleaning up campaign,” a statement from MRD said.
As part of the clean-up work MRD staff cleaned up along HCC Roundabout to Mataniko Plaza.
“The clean-up campaign is part of the preparation for the upcoming PIFs Meeting in Honiara.
“All government ministries are again instructed by the Cabinet, to dedicate at least 2 hours to clean up their surrounding areas or designated zones,” the MRD statement said.
Its understood leading up to the top regional meeting most of the ministries will conduct clean-ups on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The clean-up will continue this Friday.
