A total of thirty-two observers from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources (MFMR) have successfully completed the Knowing Your Public Service (KYPS) training.
The training was recently conducted by the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) at Rock Haven in Honiara.
The week-long program was facilitated by IPAM’s Program Manager, Corporate Learning and Development Unit, Mr. Bill Hana and a team of trainers.
Workshop participants came from across the country, including a female compliance officer based in Noro.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, MFMR Human Resources Manager, Mr. Hubert Gua, thanked the Ministry’s management for enabling the observers to attend the training and congratulated the participants.
He reminded them that completion of the KYPS program is a key requirement for employment anyone serving within the Public Service.
Mr. Hana also commended the group, saying each training strengthens IPAM’s relationship with new public servants. He thanked MFMR for recognizing the importance of the KYPS program and reaffirmed IPAM’s commitment to supporting the Ministry.
The training concluded with an additional session on the Public Service Code of Conduct.
Funding support for the training was provided by the World Bank through the Pacific Islands Regional Oceanscape Program for Economic Resilience (PROPER) Project.
Meanwhile, Mr. Gua confirmed that similar training will be organized for other fisheries observers currently deployed on fishing vessels.
