Mara Sparrows have secured the 2025 East Vella Cup title after thrashing Deep Deep Blue FC 4-0 in a thrilling grand final on Monday in Southeast Vella Constituency.
The Sparrows displayed class and dominance throughout the encounter, controlling possession and converting their chances to seal the well-deserved victory.
In the losers’ final, Eleoteve Honerts outplayed Jokael FC with a convincing 7-2 win to claim third place.
The East Vella Cup, the first of its kind, was successfully staged at Ward 8 in Eleoteve Village, Western Province.
The tournament is set to become an annual event in the region, bringing together football clubs and communities while showcasing the rising talents of players from the eastern part of Vella La Vella.
Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Ward 8, Hon. Kadiba Alu, congratulated all participating teams for their good spirit of sportsmanship throughout the competition.

“This year’s tournament has been a success, and we are pleased that it will now become an annual event for East Vella,” Mr. Alu said.
He also encouraged young players to remain disciplined, maintain their fitness, and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, noting that more opportunities await them in future tournaments.
“To all the young soccer talents, keep working hard. Some of you may one day represent Western Tomoko or even advance to higher-level leagues in the province and at the national stage,” he added.
All four teams received cash prizes, trophies, and gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Special awards were also presented, including the Golden Glove, Golden Boot, and Player of the tournament.
The prizes and awards is sponsored by the current MP of Southeast Vella Constituency Fredrick Kologeto who is also the Deputy Prime Minister.
