Betty Caroline Nanau scooped the 2025 Emerging Accountant Award of the Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA).
The presentation of ISIA award was done on Friday evening at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara, following a two-day Annual Congress.
Ms. Nanau’s award spotlights fresh talent making significant strides in the Accounting field.
She represents the new generation of accounting leaders in Solomon Islands.
She is a certified Practicing Accountant with Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from the University of Auckland.
Currently a Senior Accountant at Morris & Sojnocki Chartered Accountants, Betty has over five years of experience delivering professional services to more than 60 organizations across the country.
Her work spans accounting, tax, internal audit, and capacity development, and she is trusted by leading entities such as Tina Hydropower, Solomon Islands Airport Corporation, BRED Bank, Solomon Islands Submarine Cable Company, Solomon Water, and the Solomon Islands Football Federation.
Ms. Nanau not only delivers technical excellence but also leads and mentors her team, ensuring high combination on international governance, transparency, and growth in Solomon Islands organizations.
In receiving the award, Ms. Nanau expressed her appreciation saying it is an honor to be nominated and to receive the award, it was unexpected.
“I do appreciate the value and the significance of such award initiatives. I do believe that such initiatives will be a catalyst that will enable accountants, especially young professionals, to strive for excellence in delivering the service that we provide, whether in your public or your private sector,” Nanau said.
She commended ISIA for implementing the brilliant initiative and acknowledged those who nominated her for the award and for trusting and having confidence in her work.

She also thanked her family for instilling in her the virtues that she thinks are very vital to her role as an accountant, especially performing her responsibilities with integrity and honesty.
Sharing some encouragement for her fellow young professionals, Ms. Nanau said, the congress reminded them of their pivotal role that they play for the development of Solomon Islands through the strategic advices and the information that they provide to decision makers.
“I do believe that we, as accountants, we have the power to be the positive change that we are looking for and that we truly need for our country.
“Also, as young people, we have heard about changes and the requirements of our role and how we play our role in the accounting profession, and so it is our responsibility and our it is our responsibility to continuously equip ourselves with the right and relevant knowledge so that we can be able to deliver value in our profession.
“As young people, we can strive to enhance our capabilities and capacity, but we do also need collaboration and input from the employees as well as the government also.
“On this note, I do believe that if employees and the government do invest time, banks are able to accelerate the development of the capacity of young professionals. I do believe that they have a strong commitment in developing the capacity and the capability of all of us, the young professionals in the firm,” she added.
ISIA proudly presented its inaugural Accounting Awards – a celebration of excellence, dedication, and innovation in the accounting profession.

This landmark event features other two distinguished categories: Lifetime Achievement in Accounting Award – honouring individuals whose careers have left an enduring legacy, which was won by Wayne Morris of Morris & Sojnocki Chartered Accounts and the Outstanding Service to the Accounting Profession Award – recognizing exceptional commitment and contributions to the accounting community, won by Laxton Koraua Baoro of Baoro & Associates, CPA.
