Two Solomon Islands soccer players Rovu Boyers and Junior David will still play for their respective clubs in the Football South Australia (FSA) as the first leg of the semifinal matches on the weekend ended in a draw.
Boyers in the FSA State League One for West Adelaide saw his side level on 1-1 draw against Fulham United and David in the FSA National Premier League (NPL) also recorded a 1-1 with his club Croydon FC against Adelaide City.
In the FSA State League One, the top four clubs in the semi-finals play-offs are West Adelaide against Fulham United and Sturt Lions against Salisbury United. Lions beat Salisbury 1-0 in the other semi-final.
A similar format is used in the FSA NPL where the four semi-final first leg saw Croydon draw 1-1 with Adelaide City and Metro Stars won 1-0 against Adelaide United. The second leg of the semis will be played next weekend
In the FSA State League first leg of the semi-final Solomon Islander Boyers played a vital role in attack which led to the equalizing goal against Fulham United to level the score 1-1. The first half did not see any goal.
Fulham scored the opener in the 57th minute, however celebrations were short-lived as minutes later; an equalizing goal came from a cross-ball header.
After the cross ball, Boyers leaped high with an equal chance of a header but missed it as his teammate Yuya Kato nodded the ball past the Fulham keeper.
There was confusion in the goal scorer as according to the match facts in the official FSA website, it noted that Boyers was the goal scorer.
Either way the Hellas held on to draw 1-1 in stalemate with an exciting second leg next weekend to determine the winner.
Meanwhile Junior David’s Croydon FC also draw 1-1 in their first leg semi-final against Adelaide City.
David sat out the whole match on the bench.
He watched as his side conceded a goal in the 16th minute before teammate Luca Trimboli equalized for Croydon in the 22nd minute.
Croydon drew 1-1 which will see a rematch next weekend to determine a winner for the finals.
