The Solomon Islands National Sports Council (NSC) recently conducted the Oceania Sports Education Program (OSEP) at Colsu, Vevea Village in Rennell and Bellona Province from 18–23 August 2025.
The program aims to equip provincial communities with qualified personnel to deliver structured sports programs and promote sports development at the grassroots level.
According to NSC, two main courses were delivered under the OSEP program. These were the Community Coach and Official Course (CC&O) from August 18–19, and the Sports in Communities Administrator Course (SiC) from August 20–23.
A total of 17 participants took part in both courses, with an equal 50/50 gender split between female and male participants.
The courses were facilitated by Atueta Balekana (Lead Facilitator for SiC), Jemimah Biabe, Diana Mafuara, and Zinnia Leamana (Lead Facilitator for CC&O).
NSC stated that the successful delivery of these courses marks an important milestone in enhancing sports capacity and community engagement in Renbel.
