NORO Ward Development Committee (WDC) Chairman has raised concerns that the town’s development priorities are difficult to address due to lack of proper coordination.
Nelson Boso, highlighted this during the Provincial Participatory Planning Development Committee (PPPDC) meeting held on Tuesday at the Chacha Conference room in Gizo, Western Province
He said, some stakeholders, particularly those with financial resources, tend to focus only on their own interests and profiles in the town, which has affected the ability of the WDC to clearly identify and implement broader community priorities.
He explained that this has created confusion and slowed down progress in addressing Noro’s key development needs.
“Of every stakeholders are contributing towards development in the township but for Noro WDC to implement broader priorities has been one of our long challenges,” he adds.

The WDC Chairman has urged the town’s Support Officer to assist in drawing up clear and achievable priorities to avoid overlaps and misunderstanding.
Mr. Boso also emphasized the need for the WDC to work closely with the Noro Town Clerk to ensure development priorities are well-coordinated and effectively delivered for the benefit of the township.
Western Provincial Government (WPG) Planning Specialist, Nixon Qurusu, acknowledged that the Noro Ward Development Committee (WDC) continues to face challenges in identifying priorities for implementation.
Mr. Qurusu said the provincial government is aware of these ongoing issues and will work closely with the WDC to find ways forward.
“This will require stronger collaboration and mutual understanding between the Noro WDC and other key stakeholders established in Noro, so that everyone can work hand in hand,” he added.
The workshop was aimed to enhance community engagement in the provincial development planning process, particularly at the ward level.
