Solomon Islands has reaffirmed its strong commitment to Melanesian solidarity during a bilateral meeting with the Acting Director General of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG), Ilan Kiloe.
Thats when Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele was briefed on key MSG priorities by the he Acting Director General.
PM Manele was also congratulated for successfully hosting the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting and assured him of MSG’s full support.
Mr Kiloe from Choiseul took the opportunity to brief PM on key MSG priorities such as rebuilding of the MSG Secretariat headquarters in Vanuatu, support for New Caledonia’s decolonisation process, and upcoming initiatives on ocean protection and conservation in Tropa and Temotu.
In response, PM Manele highlighted the importance of MSG as a platform for unity, security, and economic cooperation.
He welcomed MSG’s continued support in strengthening security capabilities, advancing regional integration in trade and digital connectivity, and promoting conservation efforts.
Both leaders agreed on the importance of continued engagement and expressed support for accrediting MSG as a Council of Regional Organisations of the Pacific (CROP) agency to strengthen its regional role.
