Excitement is building as the first group of Solomon Islanders, 27 men and 3 women, prepares to leave for Brisbane on Monday this week to begin work with Queensland-based company, Nolan Meats.
The partnership between Nolan Meats and the Solomon Islands High Commission in Canberra has moved quickly since discussions began only a few months ago.
What was once just an idea has now become a reality, thanks to the hard work and teamwork on both sides.
“This is a marvellous result brought about by a wonderful working relationship between your team in Honiara and our team here at Nolan Meats,” said Terry Nolan, Director of Nolan Meats.
“We are very grateful to everyone involved and look forward to building a long and lasting relationship with our Solomon Island friends.”
High Commissioner Robert Sisilo also welcomed the news. “I’m really happy that it’s all going according to plan and credit here must go to both teams – yours and ours. Well done teams!” he said.
“Thank you again for including our people in what is now our collective cause. I really look forward to building a long and lasting relationship.”
The first mobilisation will be followed by another 27 workers once their documentation is completed. Both sides say this is just the beginning of what promises to be a strong and meaningful partnership.
