This year’s Community Football League concluded on Sunday, 14th September 2025.
The league aims to promote football in the rural communities, fostering friendships and unity among youths, encouraging spirit of sportsmanship, and creating avenues for leadership opportunities at the community level.
Chairman of the Hovi Football Club and Organizing Committee Floyd Panda stressed that organizing football leagues at the community level is very challenging.
He said, most football clubs lack basic football training kits such as soccer balls, soccer shoes, training cones and bib, uniforms etc.
“There is also lack of well-trained coaches and referees to officiate in the matches. Lack of funds remains a number one challenge, particularly to run the whole league,” he said.
However, regardless of the challenges faced, there was support from Hovi community individuals working in Honiara and abroad who sees the importance of the league and had willingly sponsored the Community Football League.

The organizing committee sincerely thanked Avoso Paul and Kenneth Oliver for their generosity and for sponsoring the prizes of the league with the support from the Hovi Football Club.
Going forward, the organizers are optimistic with ambition to create the best Community Football League at the provincial level in the future.
Hence, the organizers seek support and will reach out to Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) through Isabel Football Association (IFA) for their cooperation and support towards this Community Football League initiative.
The official date for the 2026 Community Football League will be announced once the date is finalized.
The organizing committee calls on interested nearby community football clubs to prepare for the upcoming League.
