Solomon Islands youth international Billy Afi has helped Fijian club Tailevu Naitasiri secure a return to the Fijian Premier Division.
Afi and his side sealed promotion to the 2026 Premier Division with a hard fought 1–0 victory over Seaqaqa FC in the second leg of the Extra Senior League playoff at Subrail Park, Labasa, completing a 2–0 aggregate win.
Speaking to Star Sports, the 20-year-old former Henderson Eels defender said it was an honour to be part of the club’s history.
“I am so proud and happy to help the club return to the Premier League. We had a really good season, topping the division and winning both playoff matches. I would say all our hard work has really paid off,” he said.
Afi joined Tailevu Naitasiri late last season, featuring in only three matches before the league ended. This year, the Kwara’ae native from Malaita Province said he has fully settled into the club, which he now calls his second home.
“I settled in well this season compared to last year, and everyone here has been so welcoming. It took some time to adapt to the physicality, but it worked out, and the team performed superbly throughout the season,” he added.
The young defender also thanked his family and friends back home for their continuous support throughout his journey.
The result marks Tailevu Naitasiri’s return to Fiji’s top flight league for the first time since 2023.
