The Solomon Islands National Broadband Infrastructure Project (SINBIP) has reached another significant milestone with the launch of its 50th operational tower, now live at Baniata in the South New Georgia, Rendova, and Tetepari region, Western Province.
This new tower marks a major step forward in expanding reliable telecommunications coverage to remote and under-served communities in the area.
Located at the Judaea area R63 site, the tower is fully operational and provides residents with improved access to essential communication services.
This infrastructure development is expected to enhance connectivity for education, business, health services, and everyday communication needs, contributing to broader social and economic development in the region.
The Tower rollout is the result of a strong partnership among the Solomon Islands Government, the People’s Republic of China, China Harbour Engineering Company, Huawei, the Ministry of Communication and Aviation, and Our Telekom.
China Harbour Engineering Company and Huawei have played pivotal roles in the design, construction, and commissioning of the tower as part of the SINBIP initiative.
Through this collaborative effort, the project aims to bridge the digital divide by providing reliable broadband access to communities across the Solomon Islands, fostering greater inclusion and opportunities for all citizens.
