DEAR Editor – As a Solomon Islands Student of the University of the South Pacific, I am deeply concerned about the violation of human rights in our country.
Many citizens, particularly women, children, and people in rural areas, face limited access to education, healthcare, and protection from abuse.
Poverty and neglect make these groups even more vulnerable, while government accountability remains weak.
It is essential for our leaders to prioritize human rights, ensure equal access to services, and enforce laws that protect the most vulnerable. Every citizen deserves dignity, safety, and opportunity.
Without urgent action, human rights abuses will continue, undermining trust in our institutions and the future of our nation.
I urge the government to act now and safeguard the rights of all Solomon Islanders.
Shannel Glen,
USP Law Student.
