Participants of the training on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for children and families shared their experiences and reflections on the outcomes of the workshop during its fourth day.
The five-day training, which began on Monday will conclude on Friday, September 26. ‘
It is being facilitated by UNICEF and brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including social workers, educators, healthcare providers, and community leaders.
Throughout the sessions, participants have been engaging in practical exercises, group discussions, and scenario-based learning to enhance their capacity to support the mental well-being of children and families in crisis-affected or high-stress environments.
On Thursday, participants highlighted how the training has deepened their understanding of child-focused mental health needs and improved their ability to offer psychosocial support in their respective roles.
Many expressed confidence in applying newly acquired tools and strategies in their communities.
UNICEF facilitators emphasized the importance of integrating mental health and psychosocial support into all levels of child and family services, particularly in the face of growing mental health challenges.
The final day of the workshop will include planning sessions to help participants develop action steps for implementing MHPSS practices in their local contexts.
