Solomon Islands goalkeeper James Do’oro has celebrated his first league title with Fijian giants Rewa FC in his debut season.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper has been a standout for the Delta Tigers, playing a key role in helping them secure back-to-back Extra Super Premier League titles with a game to spare.
Speaking to Star Sports, Do’oro said he was delighted to lift his first Fijian league crown.
“I am so happy and proud to help the club secure back-to-back titles on my debut. I thank God and all the glory belongs to Him,” he said.
Do’oro joined Rewa in March from Vanuatu’s Galaxy FC. He admitted it took time to adapt to the new environment but praised the club for quickly making him feel at home.
“It was challenging at first since I didn’t have a proper goalkeeper coach to guide me on my mistakes and areas to improve, and with the physicality of the Fijian Extra Premier League. But now, I am really enjoying my football,” he explained.
With the league wrapped up, Do’oro’s focus has shifted to helping Rewa chase more silverware at the upcoming FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC).
“Our focus now is on winning this last tournament which the club hasn’t won in a very long time. I believe in the boys that we can do it, and it will also be great preparation for next year’s OFC Champions League,” he said.
The Russell Islands native also paid tribute to his family, friends, and supporters back home for their encouragement.
“I thank my parents in Russell Islands, my family in Honiara, my friends, and everyone for your prayers and support both in Honiara and Russell Islands,” he said.
Rewa will meet Nasinu in their final league match this weekend.
