A total of 86 campers were baptized during a Pathfinder Camporee held in East Malaita, Malaita from 22nd to 28th September.
This was confirmed by Atoifi Youth Coordinator Harry Samuel, who reported that approximately 1,500 campers attended the event.
“On the Sabbath day (Saturday) of that week, 86 campers were baptized. This shows us that it was truly God’s program and plan to call His children to attend this camp and be baptized,” Samuel said.
He noted that the camporee began with rainy weather on Monday, but as the week progressed, they were blessed with beautiful and fine days.
Samuel added that the Pathfinders and youth thoroughly enjoyed the church activities, as well as the fun and challenging games organized throughout the week.
As youths and Pathfinders engagement continues to grow in Malaita, Samuel emphasized that this growth is a blessing from God.
“It encourages young people to participate in church programs and activities, helping to keep them positively occupied and away from harmful influences.
“Beyond that, we aim to raise them to be good citizens of the Solomon Islands and future leaders of our country,” Samuel said.
He concluded by sharing plans for a similar program in 2027, to be held in Liola, located in the northern part of Malaita.
“Other events are also on the horizon. For us here in East Malaita, we will be hosting a youth congress next year,” Samuel added.
