After 90 minutes of play the Solomon Islands National Football Team and Brisbane Roar ended the historic international friendly in a one all draw on Saturday evening.
It was a night of football action and hundreds of football fans came out to watch.
The match was described as intense packed with action and display of football skills. There were also a number of fouls being committed from opposing players throughout the match.
Solomon Islands was leading at half time. The goal was scored from a corner kick in the 40th minute of the first half by Clivert Sam.
The goal has given confidence to the team as they went into the half time break.
However, Brisbane Roar bounced back in the second half thanks to Georgios Vrakas for the goal to level match.
The visitors have a lot of chances through their set pieces which if utilised would saw them coming out victorious.
Their game pattern and play were also organised which saw them dominating the match.
Solomon Islands on the other hand had few chances and pushed for opportunities to score.
One of the big opportunity was by Leslie Bobby who managed to break through the defence line in the dying minutes only to be pulled by the shirt by one of the defenders.
The Brisbane Roar player was eventually red-carded as a result of the late tackle.
Despite one-all draw the national side were able to gain a good experience from the friendly match.
Not only that but the football fans were able to enjoy an evening of football action featuring one of the top professional teams in Brisbane.
Brisbane Roar in a statement after the match said, it ends all square in the #PacificAusSports Challenge in front of an electric crowd at the Honiara National Stadium.
“Thank you to the Solomon Islands for an extremely hard fought contest and everyone else who made tonight’s match possible.”
The visiting side will return to Brisbane on Sunday.
Solomon Islands on the other hand is using the match to prepare for the MSG Prime Ministers Cup in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG) next month.
Meanwhile, during the half time break members of the Kurukuru were also acknowledged at a ceremony at the national stadium.
Minister of Home Affairs Isikeli Vave Jnr in his speech took time to congratulate the boys for their outstanding performance in Fiji which saw them retaining the Futsal title in the Oceania region.
The players were rewarded for their hardwork by the government with a token of appreciation during the ceremony.
