GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) has handed over two new brand hilux to Honiara City Council (HCC) to support its operations.
The handing over was held on Monday.
Honiara City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor, Councillor Eddie Kasuteé Siapu received the donation.
In his brief remarks, the Mayor expressed his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Honiara City Council to the Solomon Islands Government through the Minister for Infrastructure Development, Hon. Ricky Fuo’o, and his Permanent Secretary for their kind donation of two Hilux vehicles to the Council.
The Lord Mayor said the donation demonstrates the strong partnership between the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) and Honiara City Council in working together to improve essential services and operations within the city.
He added that the two vehicles will greatly assist the Council in carrying out its daily responsibilities.
“These vehicles will make a big impact in supporting our work more effectively and efficiently,” the Lord Mayor said.
The mayor also thanked the national government for recognizing the important role HCC plays in managing and maintaining city services.

“Such support reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening local institutions and improving public service delivery.”
He assured the Ministry that the Council will make good use of the vehicles to serve its purpose.
The Lord Mayor then handed over the vehicles to the Chairman of Works, Councillor Rex Konofilia, showing his trust in the Chairman’s leadership and support for the Works Division.
The division is responsible for works, transport and also fleet management in HCC.
The handover on October 7, 2025, marks another positive collaboration between the national and city governments to build a better and well-managed Honiara.
