Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, alongside Sports Minister Kinoka Feo and PNGFA President John Kapi Natto on Tuesday unveiled the official draws for the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup Challenge at the Melanesian Haus in Port Moresby.
The annual tournament features five Melanesian nations, which are Fiji, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, and Papua New Guinea, competing in both men’s and women’s divisions.
First introduced in 2022, the tournament has grown in prestige, with Papua New Guinea hosting this year’s edition.
PNG men’s team won the inaugural title in 2022, lost the crown to the Solomon Islands in 2023, and reclaimed it in 2024.
Solomon Islands hosted last year’s competition.
The draws for Pool A and Pool B in both the men’s and women’s divisions were officially revealed during today’s event, marking the start of preparations for another exciting football showdown among the Melanesian brothers.
Men’s pool
Pool A – PNG Gold, New Caledonia and Solomon Islands.
Pool B – Fiji, Vanuatu and PNG Red.
Womens Pool
Pool A – PNG Gold, New Caledonia and Vanuatu
Pool B – Solomon Islands, PNG Red and Fiji.
