Dear Editor – I refer to your article that was published on September 28th, “Wale: High Infant Mortality Rates Alarming.”
The accounted increase in maternal and infant deaths, together with declining immunization rates is a matter of serious concern.
The frequency of stillbirths and insufficient health services, especially in the rural areas highlights a serious national health catastrophe.
It is crucial that the government addresses these issues through increased investment in healthcare, improved rural medical support and enhanced child immunization programs in the 2026 budget.
Failure to act decisively will further endanger the lives of vulnerable mothers and children.
Yours sincerely
