The East Choiseul Constituency (ECC) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth and sports development by presenting a $10,000 donations to the Lauru Football Association (LFA) last week.
In statement, LFA revealed that on Friday 17 October 2025, the Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Mr. Collin Bemama presented the donations to LFA President, Jeffrey Sipele at the ECC Office in Honiara.
The initiative pioneered by the Member of Parliament (MP) for East Choiseul Hon. Manasseh Sogavare acknowledges the LFA’s essential role in uniting communities and nurturing young athletic talent across the province.
Bemama emphasized that ECC recognizes sport as an integral part of youth development and social well-being.
“In recognition of the vital role sports play in youth development and social well-being, the ECC has allocated $30,000 in its annual budget as subvention support to LFA,” Bemama stated.
He further confirmed that ECC will continue its ongoing support next year, reaffirming its commitment to football and youth empowerment in the province.
Jeffrey Sipele expressed profound gratitude to the ECC office for their continued generosity.
“This support comes at an important time. LFA still has outstanding bills from the recent 2025 championship preparations and provincial team logistics,” Sipele stated.
“This financial assistance will help us to clear those obligations and sustain our ongoing programs,”
Sipele further noted that the funding will also fuel the future of football in Choiseul province.
He stated that a portion of the money will be used to support the school-based programs, “Just Play” initiatives in East Choiseul schools.
“These programs are designed to identify and train potential players from a young age, with the goal of preparing a strong U-14 team to represent Lauru in the 2026 U-14 Championship,”
However, LFA hailed the ongoing partnership as a crucial model for ensuring football continues to be a force for community togetherness and youth inspiration throughout Choiseul Province.
