The South Choiseul Constituency (SCC) has officially announced the SCC championship which is set take place next year, with Babatana ward has been confirm the official host of the event.
The competition is scheduled to run from 8th to 15th January 2026 at Sasamuga village will feature a competitive tournaments in soccer, netball and volleyball for both men and women.
Organized by the SCC Championship Organizing Committee (SCC-COC), under the patronage of Hon. Tozen Leokana, the Member of Parliament for SCC, the event aims to develop young talents and foster social cohesion among villages and communities, through friendly and competitive sporting events that build mutual respect and unity from across south Choiseul.
The event will also serve as a platform to identify and develop young talented individuals to represent south Choiseul at the provincial and national level.
The SCC project officer, Isireli Nuku Pazabeto stated that early announcement of the event is crucial for key stakeholders to plan ahead for the tournament.
“It is important to announce the event early so that key stakeholders, including respective Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), business houses in the wards, and our supporters to plan accordingly and have adequate time preparing their teams for the championship,” Pazabeto stated.
The championship handbook stated that each ward is mandated to field one team per sport, with strict eligibility rules requiring players to be registered voters of SCC.

He also confirmed that the total estimated budget for the competition is around $300,000.
Pazabeto, who is also the current general secretary for Lauru Football Association (LFA), highlighted that LFA will use the event to identify potential players for Lauru Kuvojo.
“As part of its ongoing scouting, LFA will use this event to identify potential Kuvojo players. This will also be an opportunity for coaches, referees and umpires to apply their expertise,” he said.
“LFA is planning to host the battle of the constituencies in 2026, therefore the event can serve as a selection ground for players of SCC,”
However, the organizing committee is committed to providing prizes, rations and overall logistic for the event and in close partnership with the hosting ward and Sasamuga community to ensure a successful game.
The event will brought together talented individual for a week-long competition, celebrating the pride and spirit, where communities come together through sport and friendship.
