The Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Keiichi Higuchi on Tuesday 21st October visited St. Nicholas College and St. John Primary School in Honiara to observe Japan’s ongoing educational assistance and the work of JICA Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs).
During the visit, the Ambassador met with JOCV members Mr. Ando, who teaches Physical Education, and Ms. Nishizono, who teaches mathematics.
Both volunteers are working on the frontlines of education, helping to nurture the future leaders of the Solomon Islands.Ambassador Higuchi observed Mr. Ando’s energetic physical education class and Ms. Nishizono’s engaging mathematics lesson.
He was impressed by the students’ enthusiasm for learning and their cheerful participation in school activities.At St. Nicholas College, the Ambassador also held an informal discussion with four high school students who recently participated in the Osaka Expo in Japan.
The students expressed their admiration for Japan’s advanced technology and shared their aspirations to study in Japan in the future to learn more about its culture and society.
The visit highlighted the positive impact of Japan’s cooperation in supporting education and youth development in the Solomon Islands.
Japan remains committed to strengthening its partnership with the Solomon Islands through educational support and youth exchange programs that build bridges for the future.
