Two more mobile towers under the Solomon Islands National Broadband Infrastructure Project (SINBIP) have been switched on and now online.
The latest announcements is part of the project’s expansion in having reliable digital connectivity across the nation.
The recent completion and activation of two new towers at Lelea and Peava in Marovo Constituency, Western Province, marks a significant milestone in this effort.
Residents in these communities now have comprehensive access to high-speed internet and telecommunications services, vastly improving communication, education, and economic opportunities within these remote areas.
The connection of these towers bring the total number of connected towers to 57th towers under SINBIP.
Several additional towers remain in the pipeline, with activation expected following the completion of final project formalities.
The ongoing expansion aims to ensure nationwide connectivity, bridging the digital divide affecting rural and isolated communities.
The successful deployment of these infrastructure assets has been made possible through the support of the People’s Republic of China.
The project involves a strategic partnership with China Harbour Engineering SI Company Limited and Huawei Technologies.
The initiative is executed through close collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Aviation, ensuring alignment with national development priorities.
The connectivity provided by these towers strengthens the telecommunications infrastructure across Western Province, enabling local communities, businesses, and government agencies to operate more efficiently and securely within the digital economy.
This development is a key step toward achieving broader regional economic growth and social development objectives.
Already, communities from Isabel, Guadalcanal, Central, and now Western Province are benefiting from improved network connectivity, gaining better access to information, health, and education services.
This expansion underscores the Government of Solomon Island’s commitment to modernizing infrastructure and fostering inclusive development for all citizens.
