KORIOVUKU community on Central Ranongga Island, Western Province, has appointed Miss Qusipaqo Besa as its official Save The Children community representative.
The appointment was made following a community meeting and discussion with Save the Children Project Officer Alban Tara and local leaders of the community on Tuesday, 28 October 2025.
Ms Besa, one of the students from the Solomon Islands National University (SINU), said she felt humbled and blessed to be given the opportunity to serve her community.
“I’m so greatly blessed to take up this responsibility to help and support all children and those with disabilities,” Ms Besa told the Solomon Star.
“I just want to help them achieve their goals in life, and bring assistance—especially for those with disabilities—to receive much-needed development and protection,” she added.
Ms Besa will also be among four participants from the Western Province selected to undertake Save The Children training in Honiara later this year.
According to Mr. Tara, the Save The Children program in Koriovuku is part of a four-year community initiative aimed at promoting child protection, inclusion, and safety.
Two more activities are scheduled for 17 November and 23 December 2025 as part of the ongoing program.
Ms Besa’s appointment marks a significant step for Koriovuku community as it continues to strengthen its commitment to child safety and inclusion.
Her role is expected to bring new learning, leadership, and positive change for children and persons with disabilities in the area.
