Member of Parliament (MP) for Savo/Russell Hon. Oliver Salopuka received a warm welcome from residents of Nukufero Community in West Russell on Saturday.
His visit was to witness the near-completion of a new community hall that is being funded by tax payers through the constituency office.
The hall once completed will serve as a central venue for community meetings, educational programs, and local events.
Designed with high ceilings and wide windows, it reflects local architectural styles suited to the community’s needs.
Hon. Salopuka said he was proud to see the project taking shape and thanked the people of Nukufero for their collaboration in bringing the project to life.

“This hall was built in a cultural way and is a very special project that my office helped to construct,” he said.
“It fulfils a promise I made to the people of Nukufero, and I’m proud to see it taking form. As your MP, I represent everyone — voters and non-voters alike — and I will continue working to improve our communities.”
Peter Nukuofa team leader and project coordinator, said the new hall will have a lasting impact on the community.

“This community hall is funded through the Savo/Russell constituency and will greatly assist us, especially for holding events and extracurricular activities,” Nukuofa said.
“We are thankful for all the assistance and we are looking forward to working with the MP on future projects.”
Salopuka said sanitation facilities would be added once the main building is completed.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving all communities within the Constituency.
