The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) recently donated sports gear to White River Football Club (FC).
The donation is a strong demonstration of community support and partnership; the RSIPF donated essential sporting gear to the White River FC.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to encourage youth participation in sports, strengthen community ties, and foster safe and productive engagement in local activities.
The donation included jerseys, shorts, footballs, and other training equipment that have long been a challenge for the club.
For many members of the team, access to quality sporting gear has been one of the biggest obstacles preventing them from fully developing their skills and competing effectively in local tournaments.
The new equipment is expected to significantly boost team morale, enhance performance, and encourage more youths to participate in sports.
Speaking during the handover, Team Manager George Taro expressed his gratitude and emphasized the broader impact of the donation on both the players and the community.
“This donation will really boost White River FC, as one of the biggest setbacks has always been access to sporting gear. On that note, I would also like to appeal to my boys: let’s stay away from trouble, take positive initiatives, and work with the police. Sports gives us a platform to grow, learn, and contribute positively to our community,” Taro said.

“This is more than just jerseys and footballs, “Taro noted. “It’s about giving our boys a chance to grow, stay active, and focus on positive goals rather than getting involved in negative activities.”
Club Team Coach Mr. Willie Menvi echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of proper equipment in improving training and performance.
“With this new gear, our team can train more effectively and focus on developing skills, teamwork, and discipline. It’s an encouragement for the players to work harder, stay committed, and aim higher. We are thankful to RSIPF and RAPPP for their continued support,” Menvi said.
Operation Manager of White River Police Station, Sergeant (Sgt) Simaruth Loe, underlined the role of sports in community development and safety.
“We are very happy to support White River FC. This partnership is valuable as it helps us build stronger relationships with the community and demonstrates that police and local youth can work together to make White River a safer place. Engaging in sports keeps our youth busy, teaches teamwork, and helps them stay away from trouble,” Loe said.
The donation also reflects RSIPF’s broader community engagement strategy, which prioritizes youth development, positive community-police interactions, and proactive measures to reduce social problems. By providing sporting equipment, the organizations are helping create safe spaces for young people to develop skills, build confidence, and form meaningful connections within their communities.
Members of White River FC expressed optimism about the future. The team hopes that with the new equipment, they can participate more competitively in local tournaments and inspire other youth in the area to get involved in sports.
As White River FC begins training with their new gear, RSIPF officials say they will continue exploring opportunities to support youth programs across the Solomon Islands, ensuring that more communities can benefit from similar initiatives.
