A 34-YEAR-OLD woman accused of stabbing her partner to death with a kitchen knife following an argument at Mbokona, Central Honiara, last month, will reappear in court on November 18.
Anna Kefedo faces one count of Murder.
On Tuesday was her first appearance in the Honiara Magistrate Court following her remand on the last court date.
Public Prosecutor Herrick Lautalo informed the court that outstanding documents yet to be obtained include the autopsy report and fingerprints.
He also told the court that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has yet to allocate a prosecutor for the case.
Kefedo is yet to be legally represented.
Her case will return to court on November 18 for the prosecution to obtain the outstanding documents, and for the Public Solicitor’s Office to allocate a lawyer to represent her.
The prosecution was also ordered to serve disclosures on the defence once the outstanding documents are obtained.
The prosecution alleged that on 19 October this year, at around 8pm and 10pm, Kefedo and her partner, the deceased, were at their home in the Mbokona area, when an argument broke out between them.
It was alleged the couple were consuming alcohol at that time.
During the argument, the deceased reportedly went to a nearby house to pay for some cigarette rolls before returning and sitting in front of their house, while Kefedo and another female were sitting inside their small verandah.
Upon seeing her partner return, Kefedo allegedly got up, walked into their room and took a kitchen knife.
She walked straight toward the deceased, whose back was facing her, and stabbed him in the left chest near the shoulder.
The deceased felt pain and tried to move away, but began to feel weak.
Neighbors quickly intervened and rushed him to the National Referral Hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival due to severe blood loss.
Kefedo was further remanded in custody.
