As part of strengthen bilateral relations between Solomon Islands and Vietnam Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Peter Shanel Agovaka successfully went on a three-day official visit to Hanoi, Vietnam, from November 11th to 13th.
During his visit, Minister Agovaka held meetings with key Vietnamese officials, including Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He also met with the Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to discuss potential areas of cooperation.
A significant milestone was achieved with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Framework for Cooperation between the two countries.
The MoU will provide a framework for future cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, and development.
Minister Agovaka also visited Viglacera, a leading Vietnamese company specialising in construction materials.
Discussions were held on potential imports of their products to Solomon Islands and possible investment opportunities in the country.
Minister Agovaka expressed his satisfaction with the visit, stating that it was successful and beneficial for both sides.
“We are committed to strengthening our bilateral relationship with Vietnam and look forward to expanding on the outcomes of this visit,” he said.
The visit marks an important step in enhancing cooperation between Solomon Islands and Vietnam, and both countries look forward to working together in the future.
