The Patu community on Ranonggah Island, Western Province is gearing up to host a sports competition in mid-December to support its high school project.
The competition will feature a 7-a-side soccer for men and netball for women.
Registration fee for soccer is $600 and netball, $200 per team.
Attractive prizes are up for grab, according to the organisers.
The tournament will run from Monday, 15 December to Friday, 19 December 2025 at the Patu sports ground.
Teams from surrounding communities, including Ranonggah, Simbo, Gizo, Kolombangara and Vella, are being invited to participate and support the cause.
“The tournament aims to bring communities together through sports while raising support for the development of Patu High School,” a statement from the organisers said.
Teams have been urged to prepare for the showdown in what is expected to be a tough competition in both soccer and netball.
Two of the Honiara-based Patu youths Keresere Tolipio and Nono Ta’ake said, they are excited and can’t wait to be part of the sports competition come December.
Preparations are now well underway to ensure everyone enjoyed the social activity as part of the festive season celebration.
Organisers have announced the following prizes:
Soccer
- 1st Prize – $6,000
- 2nd Prize – $4,000
- 3rd Prize – $2,000
- 4th Prize – $1,000
Netball
- 1st Prize – $2,000
- 2nd Prize – $1,000
- 3rd Prize – $800
- 4th Prize – $500
Details about the competition will be issued to participating teams through invitation letters.
