An Australian Defence Force (ADF) Advisor working along the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Department has been farewelled by member of Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) EOD team.
The ADF Advisor Warrant Officer (WO), Adam Keys, was farewelled on Friday 5 December 2025 at Hells Point after successfully completing his tenure from January 2023.
ADF Advisor Adam Keys, in his remarks on the farewell ceremony, said over the past 3 years they have responded to over 1500 reports, conducted 41 provincial operations, conducted 109 demolitions of bombs in Honiara and provinces, recovered and destroyed over 11000 Unexploded Ordnance (UXOs), and trained 39 EOD officers on International Mines Action Standards (IMAS) levels 2, 3, and 3 plus.
Advisor Keys said among the 39 trained, seven students were foreigners from other Pacific Island countries. ‘
This has also seen the RSIPF as the only Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) trained and equipped force in the region.
Mr. Keys said ADF spent over SBD 38 million on equipment and infrastructure to make Hells Point a better and safer place for EOD operations.
Supervising Assistant Commissioner (AC) National Operations, Mr. Francis Ramoni, in his brief remarks, acknowledged Keys for his support.

“During your tenure, you have made outstanding contributions that have transformed the RSIPF EOD into a highly competent and modern department.”
Supervising AC Ramoni said his efforts in developing over 25 EOD Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been pivotal in formalizing operational practices and strengthening safety standards across the department.
AC Ramoni added, his professionalism, patience, and commitment to mentorship have not only developed the technical capabilities of RSIPF officers but also fostered a culture of discipline, accountability, and pride within the EOD Department.
“Your time with the EOD department was marked by dedication, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to the development and professionalism of our EOD capability and standards.
“On behalf of the Commissioner of Police and the RSIPF Executive, I extend our deepest gratitude for your exceptional service and dedication.
“The lasting legacy you leave behind has strengthened our EOD department and the wider RSIPF, enhanced our operational readiness, and inspired all of us to continue striving for excellence,” Ramoni said.
He said the time with the unit has truly made a difference, and his contributions will continue to benefit the RSIPF organization long after their departure.
“Extend our heartfelt thanks to your family. Their support, sacrifice, and understanding have made it possible for you to serve here in the Solomon Islands and contribute so significantly to the RSIPF organization.”
