The total arrival of persons for the third quarter of 2025 was 15,444, an increase of 10.4% compared to the previous quarter (2nd quarter 2025).
This comes from the latest bulletin from the Solomon Islands National Statistics Office on Monday 8th December 2025.
The report said compared to the same quarter a year ago, total arrivals increased by 10.6%.
Visitors comprised the largest entrance, comprising 52.9% of all arrivals for the third quarter of 2025.
Returning residents recorded 46.6% of all arrivals, and the remaining, less than 1.0% were intending residents.
Visitor arrivals for the third quarter increased by 22.3% to 8,173 visitors, compared to the second quarter 2025 figure of 6,681 visitors. From the third quarter of 2024 to the third quarter of 2025, visitor arrivals increased by 18.4% in visitor arrivals.
Arrivals by country of residence for the third quarter of 2025 showed that visitors from Australia comprised the largest (28.5%) group of visitors to the Solomon Islands.
This was an increase of 12.3% in arrivals representing 2,331 Australian visitors in the third quarter of 2025, compared to the second quarter of 2025 figure of 2,076.
The next largest group of visitors was from China (12.2%), followed by Other Asian Countries (8.3%), the United States of America (8.0%), Fiji (7.9%), New Zealand (7.4%), Other Pacific (6.2%) and other European Countries (6.2%), Papua New Guinea (5.9%), Vanuatu (3.2%), Japan (2.2%), United Kingdom (1.8%), Other Countries (1.6%), and less than 1% for Canada.
Visitor arrivals by month showed that August recorded the highest number of visitors in the third quarter of 2025, with 2,990 visitors.
This was followed by September with 2,848 visitors, and July was the least with 2,335 visitors.
The third quarter of 2025 recorded 2,786 tourists, out of which 2,645 tourists reported having a holiday and vacation as their purpose of travel.
Tourists spent an average of 11 days in the country. Australia made up the highest proportion of tourists (28.0%) during the quarter.
The most common reason for visitors visiting the Solomon Islands during the quarter was for Holiday and Vacation (32.4%).
This was followed by Business and Conference (29.7%), Other Reasons (25.2%), Visiting Friends or Relatives (11.0%), and Transit and Stopover (1.7%).
The distribution of visitor arrivals by broad age groups for the third quarter of 2025 showed that 77.6% of visitors were in the 25 years to 64-year-old age range.
The youngest age group, 0-24 years, comprised 8.1%, and the oldest age group, 65 years and over, represented 8.4% of total visitor arrivals. The remaining 5.9% were visitors who did not state their age. In addition, male visitors represented more than half of the total visitor arrivals (67.4%), with female visitors making up 32.6% of all arrivals during the quarter.
Visitors by Occupation showed that the “Professional and Technical” category comprised the largest percentage of occupations (34.1%) during the quarter.
This was followed by Administration and Managerial (18.0%), Production and Related Work (15.6%), Not Working (9.9%), Student (6.1%), Other Occupation (4.9%), Sales Worker (3.8%), Service Worker (3.1%), Clerical and related work (1.8%), and Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (1.5%).
The remaining 1.3% of visitors did not state their occupation. Males outnumbered females in all arrivals of visitors by occupations from professional to Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
The most popular carriers during the quarter were Solomon Airlines, which carried 32.0% of total visitors, followed by Air Niugini (30.3%), Qantas (26.0%), Fiji Airways (7.5%), and Unscheduled Flights (4.1%).
Brisbane-Munda flights commenced their weekly schedule in February 2024. However, reporting of the 2nd and 3rd Quarter 2025 Brisbane-Munda Visitors Statistics will be updated in the release of the fourth quarter of 2025. This is due to the delay in arrival cards from Munda immigration.
