A 40-horse power Yamaha engine along with a ray boat has been found in Dai Island in North Malaita recently without any passenger onboard.
Auki police in Malaita has revealed this in a statement.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent Michael Ramosaea said the community elders from Dai Island has confirmed that they found the boat but no person on it.
Supervising PPC Ramosaea said only slippers and two bag beetle nuts were found on the boat. Aduki police are working close with Dai community leaders for the boat retrieval.
PPC Ramosaea said it is believed that the boat must be from western Solomons or Bougainville.
