The Selwyn Old Student Association (SOSA) and Unique Enterprises have delivered emergency food aid to Selwyn College, along with cash donations to religious groups in Northwest Guadalcanal affected by recent heavy rains and flooding.
The emergency food aid was distributed in response to a call from the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) as part of its initial humanitarian effort.
Emergency food supplies were handed over to the school principal, Mr. Edwin Rogemana, while the cash donations were given to representatives from Bishop Pattison Theological College, Gorovaka Catechist Training Centre, Melanesian Brotherhood, Society of Francis, and the Community of Melanesian Sisters.
SOSA Disaster Team leader Mr. Coldrine Kolae, on behalf of the 2026 Disaster Response Team, acknowledged SOSA members and Unique Enterprises for their quick response to the emergency effort activated by ACOM.
He said that although the support is small, it shows their care for students to continue their education and for church ministries to keep their missions going. He reaffirmed SOSA’s ongoing support for the school and religious organizations to recover from the effects of the heavy rain and flooding.
The Unique Enterprise, one of the businesses in Honiara, supported Selwyn College and assured Selwyn College students and teachers to continue to support the school at this time of need.
School principal Mr. Rogemana and a representative of religious institutions have expressed their gratitude to SOSA and Unique Enterprise for their timely support.
