The Education Ministry has been urged to urgently publish the list of successful scholarship recipients.
The call was issued by Opposition Leader Hon Matthew Wale saying the unreasonable delay has caused significant hardship for many students.
He said the continued delay has directly affected students’ ability to complete registration for the first semester of the 2026 academic year.
Hon Wale said many students and their families are left in uncertainty, facing missed registration deadlines, deferred studies, and unnecessary stress through no fault of their own.
“Scholarships play a critical role in enabling access to education, particularly for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“Timely communication and transparency in the administration of these awards are essential to ensure that students can make informed decisions and meet institutional requirements,” he said.
Whilst the Leader of Opposition acknowledges the challenges faced by the Ministry, he said the prolonged delay is unacceptable and risks undermining confidence in the scholarship process.
Hon Wale said students deserve clarity, certainty, and fairness.
The Opposition Leader therefore urged the Education Ministry to immediately finalise and release the scholarship list and to put in place measures to prevent similar delays in the future.
“Education is an investment in the nation’s future, and administrative delays should never stand in the way of students pursuing their studies,” he said.
