The Solomon Islands Athletes Commission (SIAC) has elected a new board following a successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday, 22 February 2026 at the Sports Legacy House.
A total of 35 athletes representing 18 national federations under the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) gathered for the meeting, demonstrating strong support for athlete leadership within the national sporting body.
Following the elections, Francis Manioru of Athletics was elected Chairperson. Esther Yates Pollard from the Canoeing/Va’a Federation was elected Vice Chairperson, while Renlizia Etua, also of Canoeing/Va’a, was appointed Secretary.
The three Ordinary Members elected are Benjamin Junior (Tennis), Robson Talu (Archery), and Vinda Teally (Tennis).
The Commission also acknowledged and thanked outgoing members Tony Lomo, Susie Teno, Helen Aumae, and Selwyn Kouto for their valuable service and dedication during their tenure.
Meanwhile, the Solomon Islands Athletes’ Commission (SIAC) serves as the official body representing the voice, rights, and welfare of athletes within the country’s sporting landscape.
The Commission plays a vital role in ensuring athletes are actively involved in decision-making processes affecting their careers and development.
Through its seat on the Executive Board of NOCSI, SIAC advocates for athlete interests and contributes to shaping national sports policies, as well as preparations for major international events such as the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games.
With its new leadership team in place, SIAC aims to further strengthen athlete representation and continue supporting Solomon Islands athletes in their journey towards international competition.
