A new telecommunication tower constructed under the Solomon Islands National Broadband Infrastructure Project (SINBIP) has been successfully commissioned and is now live in Rennell Province.
The tower is located at Lavangu(B183) further advancing the nationwide rollout of broadband infrastructure.
With the activation of this site, SINBIP has now achieved a cumulative total of 80 operational sites nation-wide.
This site is currently the only SINBIP site in the region, located approximately 200 kilometers from both Guadalcanal and Makira, and serves as a critical node in extending communication coverage to remote and previously under-served areas.
Supported by China, SINBIP is led by the Ministry of Communication and Aviation (MCA) and implemented by China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) and Huawei, including construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and technical support, while Solomon Islands Tower Company Ltd. (STL) is responsible for network operation and maintenance.
The successful commissioning of this site represents another important milestone in the steady implementation of SINBIP, contributing to expanded network coverage, improved service reliability, and enhanced access to communication services for communities nationwide.
