A man in his 40s from Kariki Village in the Shortlands Islands, Western Province, has been found dead following a fishing trip.
Reports from villagers said the man, identified as an Adventist worker, went out fishing at around 4pm on Friday but failed to return home.
Concerned, family members and villagers organised a search that continued through the evening and the next day.
On Saturday morning, a group of 16 to 17 local divers joined the search effort and eventually located the body on the seabed in front of the village.

Kariki resident and village organiser James Kito told the Solomon Star that it is believed the deceased may have suffered from an existing medical condition that could have contributed to his death.
“The divers retrieved the body at around 11am and brought it back to the boat before transporting it to shore,” Mr Kito said.
Authorities have yet to release further details surrounding the incident in Kariki Village, Shortlands Islands.
In a separate incident on Friday morning, the body of a woman was found floating in waters near Giloe Village on Ranongga Island.
According to relatives, she had been struggling with mental illness, which is believed to have contributed to her death.
