Construction of a new three block Laugwata Community High School (CHS) complex in West Kwara’ae , Malaita Province has successfully completed this month.
The completion marked a significant step forward in improving education facilities for students and the surrounding community.
The project was funded under the Solomon Islands – Australia Community Partnerships, with additional support from the school and the West Kwara’ae Constituency.
Construction began in March 2025.
Although the official handover has yet to be announced, the completion of the classrooms is already being recognised as a major achievement for the school and the community.
School Project Coordinator Brian Aririmae acknowledged the strong support from parents and stakeholders, thanking them for their hard work and commitment in ensuring the project was completed on time.
“Despite the challenges faced during the construction, the support and cooperation from parents and stakeholders made it possible for the project to be completed,” he said.
The new classrooms are expected to ease overcrowding and provide a more conducive learning environment for both students and teachers.

School authorities said, the project will also bring long-term benefits to the wider community by improving access to quality education and supporting the development of young people in the area.
Laugwata CHS also acknowledged and thanked parents, community members and all stakeholders for their continued support towards the successful completion of the project.
