FOUR communities in the Central Kwara’ae Constituency Aufasu, Fuku, Ialofo, and Ngadaifiu (AFIN) have received materials for a long-awaited water supply project, marking a significant step toward improving access to clean and reliable water in the area.
The materials, valued at approximately $200,000, were delivered last month as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen essential services in rural communities.
For residents of these four communities, the project represents more than just infrastructure—it is the realization of a dream many have held for years.
For decades, people in these areas have faced daily challenges in accessing safe water.
Women and children, in particular, have often had to walk long distances to collect water for household use, placing a heavy burden on families and affecting health, education, and overall well-being.
Coordinator of the AFIN water supply project John Nasi said new water supply project brought renewed hope and a practical solution to a long-standing problem.
“Once completed, the system is expected to provide a consistent and safe water source, improving living conditions and supporting better hygiene and sanitation practices,” Nasi stated.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance basic services in rural parts of the constituency, where access to infrastructure remains limited.
A Resident at Ialofo community Ellen Billy have expressed their sincere appreciation to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Central Kwara’ae, Hon. Ricky Fuo’o, for facilitating the delivery of materials for the project.
They acknowledged his support in addressing one of the most pressing needs in their communities.
The communities now look forward to the successful implementation and completion of the project, which is expected to have a lasting positive impact for generations to come.
