A 17-year-old male juvenile has pleaded guilty to attempting to burn down a house in Central Guadalcanal when he appeared in the Honiara Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to one count of Attempted to Commit Arson.
Following his guilty plea, Principal Magistrate Felix Hollison adjourned the matter to April 27 for sentencing submissions and mitigation.
The prosecution alleged that at around 8pm on January 28, 2026, the juvenile attempted to set fire to a building by setting fire to mattresses, blankets, pillows and a tray of clothes belonging Elizabeth.
The incident is said to have occurred at a village in Central Guadalcanal.
James Tetea of the Public Solicitor’s Office represents the juvenile, while Public Prosecutor Herrick Lautalo appeared for the Crown.
