Dear Editor – I stand with Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele’s decision to refuse visas for diplomatic partners, including Taiwan, China, and the United States, as it reflects a bold stand for Pacific sovereignty.
The move ensures that the Pacific Islands Forum remains a platform for Pacific nations to freely discuss regional priorities without external pressure and interference.
By limiting global superpower influence, the decision strengthens unity, promotes genuine collaboration, and aligns with the National Security Strategy to safeguard sovereignty and control foreign influence.
While some may view this as isolationist, it is a courageous demonstration of leadership that protects Pacific dignity, solidarity, and independence in global affairs.
Thank you.
