A MAN has been discharged of a murder case on Tuesday in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court.
This is to allow police carry out further investigation into the case.
Isaac Para was discharged of the murder charge which means he may be charged once further investigation is complete.
He is co-accused with Stanley Gitoa and Alphy Manedetea who have already been committed to the High Court for trial.
The men were accused of killing a man at Tetere, East Guadalcanal on 11 November, 2010.
They allegedly attacked the deceased and then threw heavy bricks and timbers on his chest and ribs.
Prosecution alleged that earlier in the day, Manedetea had an argument with the deceased while on their way to Tetere from the Guadalcanal Plain Palm Oil Limited (GPPOL) area on a truck.
It was alleged the men dropped off at Tetere where they went and bought beers from a bottle shop and were drinking the beers in front of the bottle shop.
It was then alleged that Gitoa arrived at the scene and started allegedly attacking the deceased.
Manedetea, Para and others then allegedly joined in and attacked the deceased.
The men then allegedly left the deceased’s lifeless body lying where they attacked him and return home to their village at Mbinu.
